Objecting to a Dutch tax assessment

Have you received a tax assessment or decision you disagree with? Or are you unsure how the amount was calculated? I can review it and assess which response fits your circumstances.

You do not need to be certain that a mistake has been made. If you are unsure, having the decision reviewed can help you understand your options.

First review the decision, then decide how to respond

I compare the decision with your information and the original return or application. We then discuss whether there are grounds for an objection and what evidence is needed.

If an objection is appropriate, I help prepare a reasoned notice and submit it after your approval. In some situations, a different approach is needed, such as updating a provisional assessment or requesting a reduction.

Get in touch promptly

The objection deadline is generally six weeks. The exact time limit depends on the assessment or decision. Please mention the date on the letter and when you received it in your first message.

If the deadline is close or has already passed, you can still contact me. I will assess what may be possible. We will also discuss how to handle any payment due in the meantime.

Have your assessment reviewed

Briefly explain your concern and the tax year involved. I will tell you which documents are needed and discuss the costs in advance. You will receive an honest assessment of the options; I cannot guarantee a successful outcome.
